Every year a new PES is released and as soon as those of
you who are the most skilled get their hands on the controller, YouTube
is loaded with video tutorials ready to teach everyone how to master the
fine art of PES.
Back in the day one should have just paused a game and browse the
commands list: now, thanks to the huge support that KONAMI and its fan
base receives from the various communities, we now get the chance to
meet our most hardcore fans which provide great video tutorials to a
wider audience of players, showing exactly how to put fan favourite
tricks into action.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Giuseppe Paparo, creator of the
website “PES Italian Supporter”, one of the few Italian communities
officially recognised by KONAMI in Italy.
Giuseppe is also one of the most active members on our official
Facebook page for Pro Evolution Soccer. Among the suggestions that he
usually shares with our fans, we picked a video tutorial about
“Combination Play”. As this is one of the hardest techniques to master
on PES 2014, we think that sharing this video will make things easier
for everyone who wants an insight into the topic.
One of the main features in PES 2014 that will change the way the
most advanced players will approach the game is definitely “Combination
Play”.
The pre-set tactics created by KONAMI’s developers are incredibly
effective. The AI in this new PES title takes the game to a whole new
level, and “Combination Play” is simply what gives the game even more of
an edge: it’s the feature that allows the most experienced users to
take control of a whole action rather than a single player, having the
right player at the right moment exactly where needed.
The following tutorial shows the few basic movements you
should learn if you want to master the ” Combination Play “. We chose to
show the execution of the tactics in a training situation in order to
show how your teammates move once the manoeuvre has started.
Pay attention to the icons appearing on your screen, it’s the
signal that your player is in the right area of the pitch to execute the
” Combination Play “. Once you double tap the L2 button (LT on Xbox
360), the tactic associated to that specific area of the pitch will
start. Don’t feel stressed about passing the ball once the ” Combination
Play ” is activated: waiting for the right moment is a key factor if
you want the action to succeed.
Given these golden rules, you are ready to pick the tactic that
fits your gamestyle better: once in the Game Plan menu, select the
“Combination Play” tab. While you can select up to 3 different types of
combination strategies, they can only be activated one at a time in each
area. You can choose between 14 different strategies and activate them
in different areas of the pitch.
TIP: Some users apply the same tactic they are
comfortable with to three different areas of the pitch. You should try
to avoid this rookie mistake. Start off in training mode and practice
the 3 strategies you are interested in applying to your “Combination
Play”. With a bit of practice and patience, you’ll soon make good use of
each of the slots available to you on the pitch and have a decent
amount of options in order to make your gamestyle as flexible as
possible.
